Fanatical Inspirations
Looking at me, you’d probably never think I was writing a book. Even less so a fantasy novel. But alas, this is true.
I won’t go into too much detail about the book, it’s all early stages (I’ve only written 7 chapters even though I’ve been over 2 years) and I’m milking the research side of it.
I’ve always loved the fantasy genre. It’s such a great escape from reality. I prefer magic, swords and castles over the sci-fi side of geekism. Games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time which I played first when I was 11, really solidified my love of fantasy. I found what I liked and stuck with it, playing PC games such as Heroes of Might and Magic, Balders Gate, World of Warcraft and continuing on to Xbox games Oblivion, the Fable series and Dragon Age. I delved into reading books by Tolkien, C.S Lewis and, of course, J K Rowling (best series ever IMO). I have really fallen in love with it all. I’ve had a strange fascination for Elves, be it wood, high or dark. I love the different classes a hero can be, whether they’re a warrior, a ranger, a sorcerer or paladin. I love that there is no electricity, no automatic gunfire. I believe that the fate of the world can rest on the shoulders of one unsuspecting person, with a destiny to withhold and self-discovery to be found.
Here are some pictures that are inspiring me and my direction.

Loving the inspiration.
What are you thinking for the intended audience? Is it going to be a kids book? or a book for kids of all ages =P ?

It’ll be a YA book – a couple of themes in there that wouldn’t quite suit the kiddies. But I might write a fantasy book for them too!

1st, 3rd and 4th pics are amazing. Where did you source those?
Do you get tax back on video games as ‘research’?
