IT took stripping down to a pair of knickers and an open shirt in a men’s magazine for Maude Garrett to really come out of her shell.
The niece of former Midnight Oil frontman and federal minister Peter Garrett says she grew up ugly and awkward, one of those kids you felt uncomfortable looking at.
“I was so ugly as a baby, mum asked the nurse if she could put me back inside,” Garrett, 25, told The Sunday Telegraph.
“I needed braces, I had the most bucked teeth, I was too tall and I hunched over badly.”
The bubbly radio personality has since transformed into a glamour, with the magazine shoot providing a massive confidence boost.
“I’m the biggest daddy’s girl so I was only really worried (during the shoot) about what my parents would think.
“But they were like ‘oh wow, Maude’Garrett co-hosts 2Day FM’s week-night Hot 30 Countdown show with Matty Acton. She’s also just become the ambassador of newly established charity, 30 days has September, to help at-risk youth.
Participants are encouraged to involve themselves in something new during September, with money raised going to the Ted Noffs Foundation’s Street University.
Home & Away’s Dan Ewing saw my photo shoot and tried to do a better job than me! He did pretty damn well…
