Gamer Tag Hag
Been playing way more games now that I’ve been a tad under the weather.
ON THE XBOX
My gamer tag is: maudie g
Playing: FABLE III
I love the mash-pad style fighting which involves guns, magic AND swords!
I love the unpredictable and sometimes crude dialogue!
I catch STD’s and get knocked up when I sleep around!
PLAYSTATION:
Gamer tag: maudelicious
Playing: Assassins Creed Brotherhood Multiplayer
Kill or be killed. That is what the whole scenario is about. Using a handful of techniques that you can unlock the more experience you gain, try to assassinate your target before you – another players target – gets done for. It’s not just a brutal blood bath with gun spray and snipers, you really need to use your mind on how to use the abilities in the most strategic manner. Do you always have a doppleganger nearby? Or are you all about a quick kill no matter the cost?
Full of suspense.
Giddy up!
My top 5 FUNNIEST Youtube videos
I spend a fair bit of time perusing the glories of the web. Youtube, of course, gets a thrashing.
Therefore I have compiled a top 5 of the funniest youtube videos OUT THERE (imo).
#5 Dave after the Dentist
Ah little Dave, you just got your tooth out at the dentist. What’s that? You were anaesthetised? And you’re out of it? QUICK DAD! GET THE CAMERA!
This is totally preparing the kid for a huge drug-riddled trip.
Best quotes:
“Is this real life?”
“Why is this happening?”
#4 Nintendo 64
I – too – went nuts when Dad brought home a Nintendo 64 in 1996. But nothing like these kids.
The first bit of the clip is the kids insane reaction. The next bit? Well, someone remixed the shit out of it. And that, to me, is so much freaking funnier!
#3 Lady stomping grapes.
2 ladies, in buckets, stomping grapes to win a night at a hotel, on live TV. What could possibly go wrong? Well, how bout this lady stacks it so bad, then makes the worlds funniest pain noises you’ve ever heard. Even Family Guy did a take off on this.
Every time I stub my toe or hurt myself in anyway – these are the noises I make.
WATCH OUT FOR: the reactions of the show hosts when they cut back to the studio
“Oh boy, I think she’s actually hurt”
# 2 Talking Cat
Animals. They’re everywhere on Youtube. Whether it’s the too-cute-kitties or the dog that can do maths. But the talking ones get me. ESPECIALLY when someone puts subtitles on the video of what the cat sounds like it’s actually saying!
Sure, this isn’t what cats usually sound like, which is what makes this vid so damn good.
#1 Leeroy Jenkins
Ahhh welcome to World of Warcraft. Sure, this video is about 7999247599000 times funnier if you’ve played the game, but I still find myself giggling uncontrollably every time I see it.
THE BEST PARTS of this video are the fact that THIS is what gamers ACTUALLY sound like when playing! Everyone has their microphones on, all plotting and planning to strategically beat the common enemy. Here we have a sizeable group of WoWers about to embark on a huge quest – hence the lead guy going through the plan.
I absolutely love it when he asks: ”Can you give a number crunch real quick?” and there is a guy there that A) knows he’s being addressed and B) knows that this means he has to calculate their chances of survival (that is sooo C3PO).
His answer? “32.33 (REPEATING, OF COURSE) percentage of survival”
The response? “Well that’s a whole lot better than we usually do”
Too good.
But yes, it gets better. Leeroy Jenkins is sick of the prep. He’s over it. He wants blood. So, upon yelling his name – he charges in – and shit hits the fan.
Quotes to look out for include:
“Goddamn it Leeroy!”
“Why do you do this shit Leeroy?”
“It’s not my fault”
“Leeroy you are just stupid as hell”
“At least I have chicken”
Shape Magazine feature!
Shape Magazine Australia have asked what it is that I’m listening to/watching/playing this month.
This is it!

Pics of what you can expect:
Are two dee two
I love Star Wars may more than the next person. Being the proud owner of Star Wars: Trivial Pursuit and 3 lightsabres are just the tip of the iceberg. But these two items are tempting me to push beyond my love for the franchise into something bordering obsessively dangerous.
Introducing: The R2D2 andriod phone and the R2D2 robot!
Yes, you can now buy an android smart phone…..designed on R2D2
If that isn’t enough for you, feel free to BUY THE DRIOD ITSELF!
Yes, hop in and ride around as R2D2 with an in-built motor, LED lights and sound effects! Money well spent if you ask me…
Law and Order SVU’s take on gamers
I LOVE SVU. It really is one of my favourite shows. Olivia and Elliot rule.
But in THIS episode, the writers feel that they need to incorporate this new age thing called ‘gaming’ into their scripts. And if you ask me, they’ve nailed it. I both look and sound like that when I game for over 10 hours a day.
Those guys must have the most advanced graphics cards. And the way their controllers had… what were they? Cords? WOW.
Red Dead Relentless
Lots of red. Oh, and very dead.
Exclusive interview with BIG BOI from Outkast!
Today I had the chance to talk to Big Boi, one half of Outkast about the amazing launch of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, where he will perform.
Who would have thought this guy was so into not just his gaming, but Star Wars too! Incredible!
IN THE RED CORNER: MAUDE GARRETT
IN THE BLUE CORNER: BIG BOI!
Hello buddy, thanks for chatting with me
Not a problem at all
So it’s 6.30 am here – what time is it where you are?
Oh nothing bad, only like 1-something in the afternoon? Nearly 2? So it’s not too bad.
You’ve recently come out to Australia, what’s your trip been like so far?
Oh yeah its been great. Been on tour with Neyo and T.pain. I did Melbourne, Perth, Sydney you know travelled around on this tour. It’s been lot of fun, its been great I really love Australia.
So your Frequent Flyers must be going well then?
Yeah you know what I’m saying, they going good, getting lots of those (chuckles)
So you’re heading back to Aus soon to promote the new Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Tell me, are you into video games?
Yeah, yeah you know Madden?
Yes, the NFL game
Yeah yeah those, I love those games. Been playing them heaps lately, that’s my game, you know?
But Need for Speed is totally new. I mean when I come out there, we’re going to bring my favourite things together. Music, games, cars, all those things combined. And we gonna make it funky. You see the promotion (of the game) don’t stop there – it’s a car show too. So there’s going to be performance cars, 80 of the most exotic cars there.
What’s your favourite car?
I like the classics, you know the Cadillac’s, the Chevrolets you know the real classic style. But sports cars are good too, the Trans Ams, and Mustangs.
What car did you play on Need for Speed?
Oh you know, I like to play with the Lamborghini, (laughs) you know something with a lil speed.
So when was the first time you picked up a console and went for gold?
Played for the first time as a kid. Like most people you know, when you’re a kid you start on whats out there. So for me it was like the Ataris, the first ones round, then when you get older you move on to the better stuff, so the Sony Playstation, and the Dreamcast, coz by then the games are getting really good and the graphics you know, way more advanced. It’s better now.
What is your console of choice?
For me? I like the Playstation 3 you know, that’s what I have.
What is it that you like about it?
Well, I like that it got Blu-Ray DVD, it’s user friendly and easy to work, even though I had to get my kids to show me how to set it up (laughs)
What is it about Need for Speed that made you want to jump on board?
Well, it was lucky really, coz I was approached by EA and had just put out the album. And they knew about my love for cars, so it made sense for sure that I’m with it. So I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be out in Aus on November 18 exclusively for EA’s game launch.
Excited to come back even though you’ve just been here?
Yes yes it’s a great place, I don’t mind coming back at all, everyone is so nice and friendly, it’ll be great to come back.
So you’ve had time to play the game then?
Oh yea! Been playing it, really like the game.
Have you played previous games from the series?
Yeah I played quite a few. I like racing games, I like a lot of games!
Ever finished a game?
Oh yeah you know I finished a few, games like Legends of Zelda –
Me: (interrupting) The Legend of Zeda: Ocarina of Time? That’s my favourite game!
Yeah well it’s coz it’s a good game!
What do you like about it?
Well I love that you gotta find everything, there are different levels and stages and you gotta beat the boss to move on, I love that you get weapons, it’s all about the adventure, you know, getting stuck on a level for 3 weeks and having to think of different ways to get past it. You gotta think! Gotta use your brain!
Other games you’ve finished?
Oh yeah plenty, plenty. Games like Mario bros, Metroid, those adventure games are my favourite.
Who’s you’re fav character – were you more Sonic or Mario?
Oh Mario for sure. But only coz I started playing Mario first. I mean, Sonic was pretty cool, but by the time he came out it was a bit kiddy for me.
So it’s all about the Plumber?
Yeah, we come to FIX the SINK!
But this be all about my game here, so I just wanna say that Australia – the people of Australia, they need to go to Need for Speed to get tickets to the concert. So if they order the game and buy the game, they get the chance to come to the concert. You gotta go to www.nfsontour.com.au and come and see Big Boi live! Not just that, there’s a car show over 80 of the most exotic cars out there, I’ll be there playing about an hour set, you know, two turntables and a microphone, with the funky beats. It’s everything, music, gaming and cars. Everyone wants to experience the big thing.
Sounds great, maybe I can challenge you in the game?
Yeah you got it
Let’s talk about your music. Who were the artists over the years that have made you sit up straight and notice music in a different way?
Sigh – thinks.
Well you know there are plenty of people that have made me appreciate what they do with music, people like George Clinton, UGK, A Tribe called quest, De la soul…. But also bands like Nirvana, Metallica, Guns and roses…
You know you gotta look at what the people like, coz they like it for a reason. Everyone has something new and fresh to offer.
You’ve worked extensively with Andre 3000 during the Outkast days, he’s not on this album… was it like making music with your left arm missing?
Not really… I mean Andre is on there (the album) as a producer – but it wasn’t my decision to not have him there. Def Jam, the record label was set on it being a solo album for me so it wasn’t my call. But you know, Andre and I have done some tracks, there are two tracks that are available on-line for free at the moment – one called royal flush.
Is there any chance of another Outkast album?
Yeah, oh yes Dre is working his stuff on the album now, writing some great stuff, so when I get back we’ll drop the tracks, it’ll be good. There will be a lot of new tracks
What can we expect?
Expect the unexpected, you know what I’m saying? That’s what it’s about
Have you heard Aus rockers The Vines infamous cover of Ms Jackson?
Oh Yes I’ve Def heard it, it’s jamming! You know, it’s probably my favourite cover of the song.
How many covers are floating around out there?
Yeah you know, a couple, fans have recorded them and put them up, but yeah, something about this cover I really like. When The Vines play it its jamming. You know its like
“iiii amm for reeeeeeeeeeeaalll” (sings really slowly and whiney, draws the words out)
Both laugh
Where the hell did you come up with this album name?
Yeah well, it comes from a nickname you see, St Lucius Left Foot is like Star Wars, when Luke Sywalker becomes a Jedi, and that journey he’s on. Coz this here, it’s only going to be here for a minute, so you just need to be in your Jedi stance.
Have you ever tried to do a Jedi Mind trick?
(Laughs) Nah
Not really – keep in the physical, keep it REAL!
What about lightsabers, if you’re into your Star Wars, have you ever played with a lightsaber?
Oh yes. I definitely have a lightsaber, I got them in all colours, every single one. I was lucky enough to take the family to Disney World where they had the Star Wars exhibit and we bought them all and me and my kids were playing with them all
What is it about Star Wars that you love so much?
Well like I said with the album name, I love the journey from Luke, I mean he starts of as a normal guy, just a citizen you know, and there’s this growth into something better, he finds who he really is and what his purpose is. I like that journey.
My mum took me to see Empire Strikes Back when I was a kid and ever since then I was hooked, just got so hooked in the movies, I’d watch them all -
Wait – you started off watching the second movie first?
Well yeah, I went to see that at the movies, and it all went from there.
But you know that ESB is probably the weakest of all the three – in my opinion
Well yeah, but you start there, then watch the others and you realise it only just gets better and better, then there are the prequels, and the prequels prequel…
But its about the underlying meaning in the movie you know, so many powerful themes.
What do you think about the new kids at the mo – Kid Cudi, B.o.B, Wale etc?
Yeah, you know B.o.B is definitely one to look for – I mean he’s featured on my album, he does a track for me and I’ve done a remix for them, so we worked together a lot. You know. He’s a talented kid and you gotta keep a watchful eye out coz they’re the ones hitting the scene and they’re pretty good.
I’m curious to know, how did you get the name Big Boi?
It was a nickname for me you know, back in the day, at school, the nickname came from me doing lots of push ups, so I had me a strong back, strong shoulders and neck, so when they see me I was big. It’s all about POWER
And Boi is spelt with an ‘i’ not a ‘y’, so help me out with this. Is it to be pronounced BOIII?
Boaaayyy yeah like that, it’s like BOAY laughs
Wait, am I doing it right? B-O-A-Y
Yeah that’s it girl, you got it! BOI! BOI!
With that name, is there are pressure to be a Big Boy your whole life?
Nah not at all – just all about making funky music, funky tunes and creating music, new music all the time. Hopefully inspiring others too.
Tell me about your obsession with Pitballs. Your twitter background is of them, and you breed them also?
Oh yeah well my Grandad was a hunter, he was a good hunter and he used to have those dogs. And me and my siblings used to take care of those dogs. So I fell in love with them ages ago. My brother and I started a kennel where we breed dogs. We’ve been doing that for 15 years now.
How many dogs would you have bred?
Oh, hundreds? Thousands? Yeah bred a lot.
What about your dogs. Have you got any of your own?
Yeah my favourite is my house dog, his name is Bleed. He’s one of the pure bred pitbulls. But got another house dog, his brother. He’s a teacup Yorkie, he’s tiny. His name is Tank, he only about 3-4 pounds
Thanks so much for chatting with my Big BBOOII, looking forward to getting our game on in November!
Yes Yes! November 18! Tell everyone to get their tickets by ordering the game on nfsontour.com.au!
Ocarina love!
This video combines my two favourite things. Ocarinas, and Super Mario Bros music!
Can’t wait for
Fable III
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Final Fantasy XIV
But the two most epic clips are:
Dragon Age II
How much have the graphic improved! Incredible attention to detail. And new fighting techniques. Much love
And
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
The graphics are mind-blowing, the story-telling is thrilling.
When I challenged Andrew Bogut…and lost
The launch of EA NBA Elite 11 was a hoot. I was asked to step in and challenge Aussie NBA Pro Andrew Bogut from the Milwaukee Bucks, who featured in the game.

Sure, I say. He’s going down. I’m going to own all 7 feet of him and make him cry publicly. OF COURSE I was all talk.
This is me psyching him out with EA’s Cameron Jenkins
Note Cam and I are standing on steps, Andrew is not
Turns out he knew a thing or two about basketball (whodathunk?) and proceeded to destroy me in front of everyone.
So I pulled out a few secret moves of my own. Yes, they were cheap.
But hey, if you can’t see the screen, you can’t play! It worked. I scored. And let him know it.
He ended up beating me in the end. By a considerable amount. Good on him, it would have looked awfully bad if he sucked at the sport he plays professionally.
You can probably tell that we trashed talked each other the entire night. But let me be the one to say he was very admirable, very funny, was a good sport and I’m glad I was able to play against him.
But in this picture, we are both only smiling on the outside. I’m pretty sure he wanted to put me in a headlock and noogie me to death.
Much love!

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Wow.
What a game. Visually it is breath taking. The graphics are so rich and extensive. The game play is some-what linear, non-confusing and exciting. The way the character moves is so fluid and graceful. The game creates tension in the drop of a hat.
Hell. Yeah.
8-bit tie!!!
How good is this!?
Geeks will be fighting over fashion for what may be the first time in order to get their hands on this 8-bit tie.
Best part is, my friend Jess (who pretty much wrote/produced Camp Orange: Final Frontier with me) has started up her very own website where she is importing the best finds on the internet RIGHT HERE on www.materialist.com.au which means many awesome, crazy, whacky presents (such as the 8-bit tie) that NO ONE ELSE knows about, and NO ONE ELSE would think about, are all here in the one little website.
It’s all early days, but you can email her now (email is on the website) to order your very own 8-bit tie! Comes in red and blue.
I’m looking forward to seeing what other rad little trinkets and treasures Jess discovers on the big bad web to import to us thirsty nerd people.
It seriously is the place to go when you want to buy a gift for the person who has everything.
Best of luck to Jess and materialist.com.au!
Can’t wait to Cos!
Cosplay. When you can shamelessly dress up as your hero.
I’ve interviewed Cosplay ‘artsits’ at the SMASH (Sydney Manga Anime Show) last year, and now I’m ready to give it a go myself.
First things first!
I’ve purchased this. Yes, I’m happy to announce I’m going to dress up as Princess Peach when and where I can.
But, like Halloween, female cosplay usually means that girls can wear as little as they want and get away with it. Nay, be worshipped for it. I choose to not go down that path.
So after looking around a little I’ve decided on some possibilities!
My most favourite female character ever. Wise, demure, covered up! Just need to buy an ocarina…
Another female blonde character that kicks ass is Samus Aran
No need for wig or eye contacts with me! Win. But the rest of the costume looks insanely good.
I’ve always thought that Fran from FFXII not only sounded rad, but looked incredible. But I never thought anyone would be daring enough to cosplay her. Even more certain they wouldn’t be able to pull it off. How wrong I was.
Wowzers. This is definitely the fine line between showing off T&A and dressing to character. The truth is, she hasn’t altered the costume at all. This is what Fran wears. I’m actually jealous.
Sticking with the blonde theme, and because I religiously watched this show for a year every morning before school, I thought this one could be a winner. I’d actually learn the dance she does to transform. Hello glitter nail polish.
The closest thing I’ve done in cosplay so far was for my 21st birthday. The theme was ‘Cartoon, Comics and Computer Games’. Best ever. I wanted to go as something awesome, something that didn’t look like me remotely. Who did I go as?
Snow White! I got to have short black hair with a fringe, something I’d never even dreamed of before. All I know is that no matter what I do for cosplay, I’m doing something well if I look better than this guy
Guitar Hero: WOR
Last night was the launch of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. I was asked to play the drums in a special little performance to which I obliged most excitingly!
I played on hard – which might have impressive if it wasn’t 7 Nation Army. Meg White is such a simple drummer she probably couldn’t even play hard on her own song…
I dressed as Casey Lynch – the blonde rocker character from the GH series.
Photographs done by the rocker-photog himself Tony Mott. Coincidently, he shot my very first photo shoot in 2005 for Channel [V]‘s Fresh Meat presenter search in a butcher shop with hanging meat carcasses. He remembered that I was dry-reaching the entire shoot. Bless him.
Overall a rocktastic night!
Now playing: DSi
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Sky
Available on the Nintendo DS and out now.
I’ve been playing this game less than a week and have clocked 18 hours so far. I’ll be filming a piece on it for the Nintendo channel available on the home page of the Wii in weeks to come. I thought I’d write up a little review on my first impression.
The first thing you notice are the graphics, the well-laid out maps and the depth of the game. You are a Celestial (read angel with wings and a halo), who’s job is to protect a city as their guardian. You rise up the ranks quickly amongst your peers and are able to help unassisted somewhat too early in your training. By helping the punters you gain ‘benevolence’, their gratitude essentially, and you offer this up to the mighty tree that the Celestians worship. Once this tree receives enough benevolence, it bears fruit with incredible powers. Yippee! Except the beyond-mortal-realm train decides to crash down into the tree taking all the rare fruit (called fyggs) a few Celestians with it to the mortal world. Yes, you are one of them. When you wake up you have no halo (gasp!) no wings (eek!) and worst of all – HUMANS CAN NOW SEE YOU. Oh dear. Not good. You have no way of teleporting back to your homeland. Time to suck it up, human.
The fun kicks in when you get to select the weapon you choose to use, and upgrade your armour. They creators have had so much fun with this – as you can go down the traditional route and wear chain mail, shell armour etc, or you can deck out your companions in a pair of trackkies, pop your cute mage girl in a sun-dress, fishnet stockings and high heels or make your thief wear his bright blue speedos that even Tony Abbott would be proud of.
Also, the monsters you fight are downright hilarious and have the best names. You fight guys like this
and this:
I like that you don’t have random unsuspecting battles (until you hit the water on the boat) and that you can visibly see your enemy and are able to side-step them should you choose not to fight them. WIN.
I also like that there is usually clear direction on where you need to go next, and what you need to do
The side-quests are usually available if you seek out the blue speech bubbles. The tasks are never really tedious – except when you get one from a cat. A CAT. It just meowed at me, and now I’m supposed to know what to do? I’ve been speaking to every known cow (moo), dog (nn nnnnn) and cat I’ve seen and NOTHING.
It’s like a lot of roaming RPG’s where you have to constantly battle (otherwise known as ‘grinding’) to gain items, experience and coin. Like all grinders it can get a little repetitive – especially if you’re trying to battle a boss and you know that all the side-stepping of minions has come to bite you in the ass so you have to go back and do it anyway to level up.
Very similar elements to Pokemon where you search and area, talk to the characters in it, fight medial monsters to gain XP until you are ready to face the boss of the certain area- but they have a really earnest story behind it. The cut scenes aren’t painfully long and you really grow love for your 3 other comrades (which are human and do not live in pokeballs). The only problem is how these fellow fighters came about. I literally selected them from a lady who prides herself on matchmaking. So I chose 3 other people, selected their class, gender and looks, named them, and they became real. Huh? But why do they want to travel around distant lands pledging their life to me? Why do they support me? I wish they had more of a back story, or had more of a reason to join in than because ‘I made them’. Literally, figuratively and emotionally.
My ‘pick n mix’ team insists of:
Maude: (me) (no shit) who is a Minstrel with blond hair, blue eyes and who’s weapon of choice is a sword. (Not predictable at all, right?)
Champ: Martial Artist (named after Pokemons Machamp) has outrageous spikey brown dragonballz hair with blue eyes, and his weapon of choice are metal talons (think Wolverine/Freddie Kruger)
Lachy: Theif (named after the ‘locks’ that I thought he would pick) and he is a flaming ranga with blue eyes and a nifty poison-tipped dagger as his weapon.
Tress: mage (short for ‘enchantress’) and has blue hair with amber eyes. She rocks the magical staff, a turban, a white bra and hooker heels. This lass is going places, and fast.
One other observation is the heavy recycling of village people – in every town you’ll see the same 10 people used over and over again: The young lady, the maiden, the priest, the old man and woman with the walking stick, the young boy with the blonde bowl cut etc. I would have liked to have seen slightly more variation. But I’m sure I’m the only one who’s noticed this!
Overall this game is easy to play, and hard to put down. Looking forward to pumping a lot of hours into it!
Have you picked up this months Dolly?
September is all about the SUPER SEQUELS!
And what are the two best SUPER sequels out recently?
Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Scribblenauts of course!
I write all about what makes these games ‘super’.
I’ve put Super Scribblenauts straight in my top 5 games for the DS and predict it to be the game that every DS owner has (if you choose to be the person that doesn’t, then that is REALLY UNFORTUNATE).
I’ve also already clocked the first 52 stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2 which would be an incredible feat – if there weren’t 242 stars total to collect!
So just why are these so good?
Get this months Dolly to find out!! (Or get your sister to buy it for you, otherwise you could totally look suss….)
Maude Games
I have a formspring account where anyone can ask me any question. Quite a few are gaming questions, so I’ve decided to compile them all right here for an easier understanding of my passion.
Q: What console has the best/worst controllers?
It’s difficult going between Xbox controllers to the classic Nintendo Wii controller because the main button is positioned differently. So when trying to adjust, you spend a lot of time cancelling out of things you’re wanting to accept.
Q: Favourite mario kart item/weapon?
In Mario Kart Wii it’s the rocket. I purposely come last so I can wipe everyone else out while being thrust comfortably into first position. In MK64 – the star (just for the music)
Q: What are your Toons on WoW? I play Horde on Barthilas. Used to play Alliance but came to really admire the Horde. You learn quite a bit about racism and tolerance by the way people play the game I’ve found.
Hahaha I’d believe that. I was a Night Elf – I haven’t played in years. My character will forever be lvl 49 which makes for great games in Worsung Gulch etc. I started up every single race and played to lvl 10 to see which one I liked the most
Q: What’s your longest gaming marathon? xox
In one sitting? Probably when I was playing World of Warcraft – I would have clocked a 17 hour day in there a few times. Pokemon and Zelda usually ensure a damn long marathon of playing.
Q: Leeroy Jenkins
= the man
Q: Why is Ocarina of Time the best game EVAR?
musical composition, link, revolutionary for 1996, Epona. Nuff said.
Q: Why is madden the greatest video game of all time?
…it isn’t.
Q: Ever play runescape? if you did how good were u?
I wish I did!! It sounds epic! But in that stage of my life i was more into the Sims and Heroes of Might and Magic
- Q: i used to play runescape. trust me, it’s uber-stupid. don’t go near it.
How can you go wrong with medieval? How tragic. Let’s focus on the new KOTOR MMO coming out then yes?
Q: Most frustrating game?
Any game that doesn’t respond 100% with the controllers or has a delay. Worst ever.
Q: Is a ps4 coming out soon?
They’re too busy still pimping out the PS3
Q: Maude, what’s your Monster Hunter 3 Name/ID?
I think it’s just Maude….so original!
Q: What did you think of YourShape Fitness on XBox Kinect? Would it be viable for someone who doesn’t really work out that much?
There are so many exercise games that are great to play – and work! Motivation is your biggest key here, you really have to commit some time every day into the game. Most of the exercising games are on the Wii because of the motion sensors (if you have a Wii you want to try games like EA:Active, Wii Fit Plus – both of these are compatible with the Wii Balance Board) and Your Shape – the first one). I’m glad Xbox finally has caught on that fitness games are ideal since you can work out in the comfort of our own home. Kinect seems to really work well and you have the freedom of exercise without any controllers to worry about. I say GO FOR IT! You can go as hard as you want, or gradually build up how long you go for. But essentially motivation is what will get you fit and active, you have to really want it! Good luck
Q: If you are such a gamer why weren’t you at E3?
I had work here! Also I don’t work for one company, so i wasn’t sent over. If I wanted to go I’d have to pay for flights and accom. Luckily the streams were more than sufficient
Q: At e3 any Playstation news
PS3 are really pushing the features of their console. It allows users to rent/purchase movies, watch TV, listen to hundreds of music tracks, play 3D games, watch 3D movies, upload individually made levels into particular games, free online functionality and the new Playstation Move. Bascially, they’re trying to be better than all the best parts of the other competing consoles. As far as games go, new CoD, LittleBigPlanet 2 etc are on the cards
Q: Have you ever used cheat codes?
I use walkthroughs when I’m beyond stuck, and I feel like I’m cheating when I use them.
Q: Are you any good at fifa 10? i really need some friends to play with online haha.
I’m not really into realistic sporting games. I’ve played FIFA 10 and I wasn’t too bad at it! But I’m online more for Monster Hunter 3
Q: So you’re a gamer girl I see? I know the last 14 hr flight I was on, the in-flight games were what got me through haha.
Yes I’m out of the closet as a gamer. Been playing since I was 7 and have decided to turn this hobby into work! Writing for Dolly and doing stuff for Nintendo – pretty cool. Keep gaming!
Q: I still play myspace mobsters even though I live in faceyland. Do you play any social networking app/s?
I put a lot of hours into Castle Age on facebook. But the gameplay wears out when the repetitiveness kicks in. I’ve just downloaded retro Prince of Persia and Where’s Wally on my iPhone
Q: if you told someone you were the ultimate mario kart player and they beat you, would you accept defeat or challenge them to another game until you won?
I’m clearly not ultimate then, am I? I’d definitely keep challenging them. Beginners luck is my weakness
Q: Who is your favourite gaming character?
Zelda. But it’s different to who I choose when playing games. I play Rosalina on Mario Kart Wii, Samus on Smash Bros etc etc..
Q: What difficulty level did you play Mass Effect on?
I’ve only done the first planet! I’m so lost. I’m on normal
- Q: You need to finish it! It is an amazing game, ME2 is as well. Look at a walkthrough, perhaps?
The planet layouts are so confusing!! But yes, walkthrough will have to come out on this occasion. Best part is I have ME2 all ready to go as soon as I finish the first!
Q: What would your ultimate game involve?
It’d be an MMORPG – either fantasy or sci-fi Star Wars. Think either swords, elves and defending castle attacks, or the force, eternal struggle and epic sabre battles. For more, just look up geek.com/couldigetanygeekier
Q: How is MH Tri going?
about 30 hours and am getting up to some REALLY tough monsters. I just need to beat the Barroth so I can move up to 4 star hunts! AUGH!
Q: If you could become a fictional character who would it be?
hmmm can I say Hermione Granger? Mind you, she’s a bit of a pompous know-it-all sometimes… hmmm. I’d say Sookie Stackhouse but she gets beaten up so much. Wait! I know! Princess Zelda.
Q: I can’t resist adaptations of the old classics, like New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Yoshi’s Island. I’m also a puzzle addict too, loving Sudoku and Picross. But I’m looking for more action/strategy based games to try now
You tried Mario Party DS then? And if you’re after strategy – get Professor Llayton and Pandora’s Box. You’ll cry.
Q: Firstly, you’re awesome. (Love reading your blogs, website and Twitter!) Secondly, I am a mad DSi addict, but am starting to clock all my games. So I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to any awesome games I absolutely must have?
Firstly – ta! Secondly – yes I can recommend some games. I have no idea what you’re into and what you’ve already played BUT the essentials are:
* all the pokemons. you cannot pretend you got over this phase, it is still awesome and you can easily clock 30 hours of it
* GTA: Chinatown wars. If you’re younger than 15, step away from this. But if not you’ll love every second. Not too much drama playing it on the DSi and the birds-eye view is optimal.
* Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I’ve loved everything Zelda for so long, and these do not disappoint. They are far more strategy-based than action which can be both exciting and frustrating. Again, get quite a few hours in on this.
Lastly – get the Final Fantasies. I love my RPG’s and these are pretty cool on the DSi. They play a hell of a lot different from the ones on Playstation and although the fight sequences can get dull time after time, the cut scenes and characters are worth it.
Does this help?
Q: Video games, favorite ?
At the moment I’m loving Dragon Age and Mass Effect on Xbox, Spirit Tracks on DS, and Monster Hunter Tri on Wii. Classics include Ocarina of Time and WoW. Ha!
